HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT CANDLE SCENT FOR YOUR SPACE
Ever stepped into a room and wondered, “what is that smell?”. The human sense of smell is a major one and is scientifically the second or third sense to be awakened when one steps into a room, right after sight and sound.
The smell of a room can either make or break a situation. The same way your perfume can be a conversation starter, that is the same way the fragrance of your home or office can start a conversation.
Now this begs the question, “how do I pick the right scent for the different rooms in my space?”.
There is no definite rule for picking a fragrance, however there are some guidelines that can help you in this major decision.
1. ROOM SIZE AND FUNCTION
Every candle and diffuser has its unique appeal as well as its potency level. Strongly scented fragrances placed in a small room will cause an overwhelming sensation and all appeal for that scent will be lost because it will just be “too much”. However, if the same fragrance is placed in a larger room with more space for the scent to disperse, it will be more appealing. The same also happens when only one light floral fragrance is kept in a large room, it won’t be enough to get the full experience of that scent, but if more products are kept around the room strategically, the experience will be heightened.
You would also wish to avoid using scents that clash with the room function, an Oudh fragrance placed in the office would be appealing but in the kitchen would create a major clash of scents with the items cooking or baking and leave the overall ambience confused and unappealing. However cinnamon spice candles will fit in quite nicely in the kitchen.
2. PRODUCT TYPE
There are different products you can use to introduce a scent into a room, some of which include: scented candles, reed diffusers, electronic diffusers, room sprays, etc. choosing the product type used in a particular room is majorly dependent on the function of that room. In the bathroom and bedroom scented candles are perfect for ambiance. Offices are much more receptive to diffusers than candles.

3. PURPOSE OF FRAGRANCE:
For every room you want to put a candle or diffuser in, there is usually a purpose. It could be, “I need an insect repellant for my store”, “I want my studio to smell woodsy”, “I need the gym to be relaxing and welcoming”, “I want my living room to smell like summer”. All of these needs are a purpose you want achieved by your fragrance type, it helps you streamline the category of fragrance you need for each room. 4. WHAT FEELINGS DO YOU GET?
For each product you pick, there are always key fragrances in them, generally we have an idea of how these fragrances smell on their own. Roses smell feminine and light, seaweed and driftwood smell like the ocean, vanilla smells sweet, cinnamon smells spicy and so many other peculiar scents. So the key question to ask is how does this fragrance make me feel? Does it evoke fond memories or sad one? Does it make me want to stay or leave a room? Does it make me happy or nervous? Your feelings are valid and very important in picking the right fragrance as humans have smell as their most memorable sense and will get triggered by anything they smell.
For me the one fragrance that sticks in the Olores collection is "Fruchte" because it reminds me of exotic places.
